United Airlines is making it harder to reach its top frequent flyer status in 2027
United Airlines is doing away with flight segment as a way to reach Premier status and increasing the spending requirements for Premier 1K.

TL;DR
- United Airlines will remove flight segments as a way to earn elite status in 2027.
- Elite status will be solely determined by Premier qualifying points (PQPs).
- PQPs are earned from eligible flight spending, award travel, and eligible United credit card spending.
- The points threshold for Premier Gold and Platinum tiers remains the same.
- The threshold for Premier 1K status increases from 28,000 to 32,000 PQPs.
- A minimum of four United or United Express flights per year is still required for Premier status eligibility.
- United cardholders with Premier status will receive a 5% head start on their next year's status points.
