Country diary: Return to ‘bitey horse field’ – this time with a plan
Frome, Somerset: A small patch of land, leased by the council, will be the site of a new community project. And so we descend, ready to rewrite its future

TL;DR
- A field in Somerset, historically known as 'bitey horse field', is being reforested.
- The town council has secured the land on a 99-year lease for a community project.
- Bamboo sticks have been planted, with live trees to be paired with them.
- The project is crowdfunded in memory of Moko Sellars.
- Different tree species will be planted based on the terrain, with wet-loving species by the river and others on higher ground.
- The initiative is called Frome Community Woodland, with the community to decide if the name sticks.
