Trap intended for bear living under Altadena home catches another bear

A 550-pound California black bear is living in the crawlspace of an Altadena home.
The bear entered the crawlspace by ripping away a screen and has been there for over two weeks.
The homeowner has had close encounters with the bear, which has growled at him.
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) is involved in trying to remove the bear.
A bear trap set by CDFW with cherry and caramel scents captured a different bear, not the one under the house.
The non-target bear was released into a suitable habitat the following day.
The bear currently under the house is identified as Yellow 2120 due to an ear tag.
Yellow 2120 was previously trapped, tagged, and released about 10 miles away about a year ago.
It is estimated that Yellow 2120 has been in the Altadena area for about five months.
CDFW stated that this is a typical time of year for bears to seek warm and safe places to den.
