Judge throws out confession by alleged 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed

A military judge has suppressed a confession made by Khalid Sheikh Mohammed to FBI agents in January 2007.
The judge found the confession was not given voluntarily due to Mohammed's prior treatment by the CIA, which included waterboarding and other tactics viewed as torture.
Mohammed was not given a Miranda warning and was told he could not speak to a lawyer.
The ruling is considered a blow to the federal government's prosecution of Mohammed for his alleged role in the Sept. 11 attacks.
A trial for Mohammed and three other defendants is scheduled for June 2028.
