When will Democrats recognize the brutal murder and genocide committed by Native Americans?
Oct. 12 is recognized as Columbus Day, the date on which explorer Christopher Columbus landed on San Salvador, changing the course of human civilization. Yet, if you followed many Democrats on social media — and sadly, Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) — you’d think it was the made-up holiday perpetuated by left-wing politicians and Howard Zinn acolytes recognizing Native Americans. Democrats call it “Indigenous Peoples’ Day,” a day specifically created to replace Columbus Day because of Columbus’s alleged sins, under the guise of honoring Native American history and heritage, while ignoring and omitting the sins and wrongdoings of indigenous people.

TL;DR
- Democrats are accused of replacing Columbus Day with 'Indigenous Peoples' Day' to erase tradition and disparage a European hero.
- The article claims indigenous peoples committed widespread murder, rape, pillaging, and enslavement before European arrival.
- Scholars like Steven Pinker and Tim Kohler are cited to support the idea that indigenous societies were historically very violent.
- Examples of violent indigenous groups and conflicts are provided, including the Aztecs, Mohawk, Oneida, Seneca, Sioux, and Blackfoot.
- The narrative of a 'peaceful Native American' culture is dismissed as propaganda, asserting indigenous peoples were as violent as other civilizations.
- The author suggests that if indigenous wrongdoings are overlooked, Columbus's should be too, making the replacement of Columbus Day moot.
