A new toxicology report has revealed chilling new details about the deaths of four children whose mother and grandmother allegedly plotted together to kill them before taking their own lives in a murder-suicide in upstate New York. Police found six bodies in a Mechanicville apartment during a welfare check on June 23. The alleged victims were identified as 13-year-old Harper Harmon, 11-year-old Hudson Harmon, and 10-year-old twins Gavin and Gracelynn Harmon. Their bodies were discovered alongside those of their mother, Sarah Myers, 44, and grandmother, Amy Steadman, 64. Police stated the children were murdered on June 10. Steadman and Myers allegedly began their plan on June 5, with Steadman purchasing over-the-counter sleep aids and medications. Steadman's search history included inquiries about the effects of insulin on non-diabetics. Steadman and Myers exchanged messages planning to dose the children on June 10 before a scheduled call with their father, Brady Harmon. Harmon stated he received a message that the children had stomach aches, and subsequent attempts to contact them were unanswered. Police Chief Bill Rabbitt reported that three children were poisoned, and Gavin was stabbed while apparently trying to protect himself. Steadman's search history included questions about fatal stabbing locations and finding the carotid artery. Messages revealed the children were not responding to medication as expected, with one message reading, "It's not working, we need another option." Gracelynn reportedly wrote on her iPad about stomach pain, asking, "Why would you do that? You won’t let me puke." Steadman's final message was reportedly, "Gracie is aware." Toxicology reports detected diphenhydramine and kratom in the children's bodies. Letters found at the scene suggested Steadman took responsibility, claiming it was to prevent abuse by the father. Another letter, believed to be from Myers, accused Harmon of abusing the children in Utah and expressed anger with the Utah Family Court system. Harmon denied the abuse allegations and had not seen the children since November 2019. He claimed Myers assaulted him with a medicine dropper on his last visit. Court records indicated investigations into inadequate guardianship and educational neglect, and that Myers had postponed his court-ordered visits. Harmon expressed grief over his children's suffering and stated they were killed in a "delusional state." Rabbitt emphasized that the murders could not be described as protection and urged the community to support each other to prevent future tragedies. The children's cremated remains were flown to Utah, where Harmon scattered their ashes. Court records show Myers and Harmon were married in 2015, separated in 2019, and divorced in 2020, with joint custody awarded to both. Additional paperwork showed Myers was ordered to appear in Utah court on June 29 regarding a motion to enforce divorce/custody terms.
