Did you solve it? I say tomato, you say tomato
Earlier today I set you these two word puzzles. Here they are again with solutions.
TL;DR
- Puzzle 1: Find five letters (besides 'a') that have homonyms not containing the letter they sound like. These letters spell a common word.
- Solution 1: Q (cue), U (ewe/yew), I (eye), C (see/sea), K (cay). These spell 'QUICK'.
- Puzzle 2: Match pairs of meanings to homographs (words spelled the same but pronounced differently).
- Solution 2: Lists 12 pairs of homographs with their meanings (e.g., Alternate, Appropriate, Content, Delegate, Discount, Entrance, Invalid, Minute, Present, Produce, Refuse, Upset).
- The author has been setting puzzles on alternate Mondays since 2015 and seeks suggestions.
