Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly moving back to Britain with their two children, six years after dramatically abandoning royal life for a new beginning in California.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will relocate to the United Kingdom with Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, later this month, with both children expected to begin school in Britain in September.

The Telegraph reports that the couple will establish a private residence in the U.K. while keeping their lavish Montecito home and vacation property in Portugal.

Their return marks quite the reversal after years spent publicly airing grievances about Britain, the Royal Family and the institutions surrounding the monarchy.

Harry and Meghan quit as working royals in 2020 before eventually settling in California and turning their attention to left-wing activism.

Their attacks helped destroy Harry’s relationship with his brother, Prince William. The pair reportedly remain estranged and have not spoken in years.

King Charles was informed of their plans on Sunday.

However, there will be no restoration of Harry and Meghan’s royal status.

The couple will remain private citizens and non-working royals, meaning Harry will not resume official duties.

The move also comes after Harry spent years arguing that Britain was not sufficiently safe for his family after losing taxpayer-funded police protection when he abandoned royal duties.

Harry consequently launched a lengthy legal battle over his security arrangements and repeatedly cited safety concerns when discussing bringing Meghan and their children to Britain.

Yet the Sussexes returned with their children earlier this summer, when they reunited with King Charles for the first time in more than four years.
