PresidentDonald Trumpwill return to a familiar role next month when the 2026 Presidents Cup tees off. Trump was named an honorary chairman for the tournament, the PGA Tour announced Saturday.

This year’s event is scheduled for Sept. 22-27 at Medinah Country Club near Chicago. Trump previously served as honorary chairman of the 2017 Presidents Cup, held at Liberty National Golf Club in New Jersey. He participated in the trophy presentation after the U.S. Team defeated the International Team, 19-11.

PGA Tour CEOBrian Rolapp pointed to the Presidents Cup’s long-standing connection to world leaders, saying, \"The Presidents Cup has a proud tradition of engaging world leaders from across the globe and across political lines, and President Trump’s involvement continues that legacy.\"

This year's tournament will see a 12-man U.S. Team go head-to-head with a 12-man International Team.Brandt Snedekerwill captain the Americans, while Australian Geoff Ogilvy will lead the International Team.

Trump is the seventh U.S. president to serve as honorary chairman of the Presidents Cup, joiningJoe Biden, Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush and Gerald Ford.
